Bed Safety Rails - Able Rise Bed Assist Double

The AbleRise Bed Assist Double is an adult size bed rail that prevents adults from falling out of their beds. It is fairly easy on the bedside; it’s wide enough to shield an adult from falling out but small enough so that it doesn’t block one from getting in and out of the bed. It also acts as a handle to hold on to for support when getting in and out of bed. Besides getting in and out of bed, the handles are also useful for holding onto when trying to readjust one’s position in bed.

The Bed Assist Double is suitable for home and facility use, but cannot be installed on mechanical beds like those in a hospital. But most people don’t have such beds at home, so it’s unlikely ever going to be an issue for anybody. To install the bed rails, the user only has to bring the mattress of the bed up and lay the support bar underneath the mattress. It is fairly easy to install since the bed rails weight only approximately 3 kg; however, lifting the mattress could be a very different issue.

The support bar in the centre is adjustable in length, held by locking pins at various points to accommodate bed sizes up to queen size in width. The double rails installs on both sides. This is very useful for a person who sleeps on both sides of the bed or for couples who both need assistance in getting in and out of bed.

The support handles are also adjustable in height to fit thicker mattresses. The side of the rails are also built in with roomy pockets to double up as a convenient storage compartment. The compartment can be used to store medication, wipes or other handy items for use. This reduces the need to get in and out of bed, especially if the person is having difficulty with getting up.

The handles are covered with non-metal material so that they are not cold to the touch. Cold handles can sometimes give older folks an unpleasant surprise when they grab onto it when half asleep. However, the bed rails are not foldable and will get in the way when trying to lay or change bed sheets.

The bed rails designed to support up to a weight capacity of 250 Ibs. This is a lot heavier than what most people will weigh, especially for the elderly or sick patients. However there are exceptions to the case. Users should take note of the weight limit lest it be used with an overweight patient. Also, this is the rated weight capacity of the bed rail material. The real counterweight of the rail that holds the bed rail securely is the mattress which lays over it. If a thin mattress with little bulk is used, the bed rail can give way.

The AbleRise Bed Assist also comes in single design. The support bar of the single design extends up to thirty-nine inches under the mattress. It also comes with a loop strip with hook allows you to attach the end of the support bar onto the opposite end of the bed frame to hold the bed rail in place. The AbleRise Bed Assist is fairly pricey among bedrails, but as one of the users put it, a broken bone isn’t cheap either. The AbleRise is a useful addition to the beds of elderly or sick patients needing support.
